In the Spring of 2005, Rich Cronin was diagnosed with Acute Mylogeneous Leukemia.  After eight months of hospitalizations and treatments, and a year of remission, an unexpected relapse made a stem cell/bone marrow transplant a necessity.  With no viable HLA matches (the required matching DNA markers which make a transplant possible) in his family, it became necessary for his physicians to search the national registry for an unrelated donor.

"Because of the generosity of someone I don't even know, I am here today," says Rich Cronin when asked about his experience with cancer.  It was these experiences that caused him to establish the
Rich Cronin Hope Foundation for Leukemia.  The RCHF is dedicated to the care, compassion and life enrichment of individuals and families impacted by the disease.  Since 2006, RCHF has facilitated the registration of over two thousand individuals to the national registries matching patients and donors, held blood drives, collected hats for chemo patients, provided meals to home bound cancer patients, and provided gifts to bone marrow transplant units of plasma televisions for their common areas.

Rich Cronin would like to thank everyone who visits his
foundation website and learns how simple it is to make one's self available to save a life.
